Christian Counseling

A Biblical Foundation for Healing, Growth, and Guidance

Christian counseling is more than a profession or ministry—it is an extension of Christ’s compassion, truth, and wisdom into the lives of people seeking hope, restoration, and direction. At NINO (New Insights, New Outlooks) Ministry, our heart is to see lives transformed through the truth of God’s Word and the power of His Spirit. Under the leadership of Chaplin Lukens and his wife, experienced and compassionate counseling professionals, all sessions are conducted with prayerful care, biblical wisdom, and Spirit-led guidance. Together, they minister to individuals, couples, and families, offering counsel rooted in Scripture and centered on Christ.

In this work, we address three vital areas of need: Marriage Counseling, Christian Counseling for personal and spiritual growth, and Mentoring as a path of ongoing discipleship and leadership development.

  1. Marriage Counseling: Building Marriages on the Rock

Marriage is one of the most sacred institutions ordained by God, established in Genesis 2:24 when He declared, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” In Christian counseling, marriage is viewed not simply as a legal contract but as a covenant before God—a union meant to reflect Christ’s relationship with His Church (Ephesians 5:25–32).

In today’s world, many couples face challenges that threaten this covenant: communication breakdowns, unresolved conflict, financial stress, infidelity, or differing spiritual priorities. Pastor Lukens and his wife approach these challenges with biblical principles, prayer, and practical strategies, helping couples identify root issues and restore trust. Unlike secular counseling, Christian marriage counseling does not merely aim for compromise or cohabitation but seeks God-centered reconciliation.

One key focus is teaching couples to apply biblical conflict resolution. As James 1:19 reminds us, “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” They help husbands and wives practice active listening, speak truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), and forgive as Christ forgave them (Colossians 3:13). This approach transforms marriages from transactional relationships into grace-filled partnerships.

Marriage counseling also emphasizes the role of prayer together as a couple. Couples are encouraged to pray regularly, not as a ritual but as a way to invite God into the marriage. This transforms weakness into strength and fosters a deep spiritual bond between husband and wife.

  1. Christian Counseling: Healing the Heart Through God’s Word

While marriage counseling focuses on the couple, Christian counseling in general is concerned with the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. It seeks to bring God’s truth into every area of life, whether the individual is facing depression, anxiety, grief, addiction, or spiritual stagnation. As 2 Timothy 3:16–17 teaches, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Pastor Lukens and his wife integrate biblical truth with practical methods, addressing not only emotional struggles but also the spiritual roots of those struggles. Their counseling is grounded in dependence on God’s grace and the transformative work of the Holy Spirit. Clients are guided to find freedom through Christ, the ultimate source of healing.

Whether through Scripture meditation, prayer, or renewing the mind with God’s promises, Christian counseling here is rooted in eternal hope. For example, someone battling anxiety may be encouraged to meditate on Philippians 4:6–7, which says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

In this way, Christian counseling is not just about coping—it’s about transformation.

  1. Mentoring: Discipleship Through Relationship

While counseling often addresses crises or specific challenges, mentoring is a proactive, long-term investment in spiritual growth. Pastor Lukens and his wife see mentoring as part of their calling in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19–20). Just as Paul invested in Timothy, they walk alongside individuals, guiding them toward spiritual maturity and equipping them for leadership.

Mentoring is highly relational, involving encouragement, accountability, and spiritual direction. Mentees are encouraged to engage in regular Bible study, prayer, service, and fellowship. They are also challenged to discover and use their spiritual gifts for the glory of God (1 Peter 4:10).

The goal is multiplication—those who are mentored will one day mentor others, creating a ripple effect that strengthens the Body of Christ for generations to come.

Conclusion: A Ministry of Restoration and Growth

At NINO Ministry, Christian counseling—whether through marriage counseling, general counseling, or mentoring—is ultimately about reflecting Christ’s love, truth, and grace into the lives of others. Chaplin Lukens and his wife are committed to walking with people through life’s challenges, pointing them to Jesus, the Wonderful Counselor (Isaiah 9:6), who brings ultimate healing and hope.

Through prayer, Scripture, and Spirit-led guidance, they help individuals and couples not only overcome immediate struggles but also build a foundation for lifelong growth in Christ. This ministry fulfills the calling of Galatians 6:2: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
